ADLINK provides open source solutions: Vortex OpenSplice and Eclipse Cyclone

- As a member of ROS-Industrial ConsorTIum Asia Pacific, ADLINK is committed to driving innovation in robotics platforms

ADLINK announced its participation in the ROS-Industrial ConsorTIum and became the first member of the Alliance's Asia Pacific region. The Robotic Operating System (ROS) is a global collaborative program designed to simplify the complexity of robot platform development. The Robot OperaTIng System supports open source and extends the advanced capabilities of robotic operating system software to the manufacturing end. After joining ROS-I Alliance, ADLINK will leverage the expertise of data connectivity standards to advance the robotics industry.

The Industrial Robotics Operating System Alliance (ROS-Industrial ConsorTIum) was promoted by the Singapore Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (ARTC), the Fraunhofer IPA Research Institute of Germany and the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI). It officially launched its Asia Pacific region in March 2017. The operation is designed to encourage the adoption of advanced robotics and automation technologies in the Asia Pacific region.

Angelo Corsaro, chief technology officer of ADLINK, said: "The promotion of ROS will make the robot technology level more popular, and it will subvert the situation of the original robot development system with closed software, and establish a unified standard design framework, and we also Will assist the industry."

Min Ling Chan, Project Manager of the Asia-Pacific Alliance for Industrial Robot Operating Systems, said: "We understand the importance of using open source for software development and hardware integration. I am very pleased that ADLINK can join the Asia-Pacific Alliance for Industrial Robot Operating Systems. ADLINK is automation. And the leader in robotics hardware, providing solutions for a wide range of robotic platforms that support automated manufacturing processes and controls, and expects ADLINK to apply its expertise to our program."

ROS is an open source robot development platform. Robot developers all over the world can conduct related research and resource sharing on this platform. It also enables technologies such as perception, real-time motion control, image processing, artificial intelligence, positioning and navigation. The sexual architecture is applied to the robot and is technically integrated by a common platform. The ROS program began in 2007 with collaboration with the Stanford University Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory. Tens of thousands of users around the world are working on the ROS 2 Ardent Apalone open source project.

ADLINK has long focused on the development of the Data Distribution Services (DDS) standard for the Object Management Group (OMG®), a proven international data connectivity open standard for mission-critical IoT systems. For the latest version of ROS 2, the latest version of the robot operating system under development, the DDS standard is its key core technology, and ADLINK will also become an important partner to provide relevant support and guidance.

ADLINK is a supporter of the open source initiative and offers two open source solutions: Vortex OpenSplice and Eclipse Cyclone. Vortex OpenSplice provides real-time data sharing and secure massive data transfer between devices, while Eclipse Cyclone provides users with efficient, secure and interoperable Internet-scale real-time data sharing.
